Bihar plans secondary school in every panchayat

The state government will set up 5,400 new secondary schools to cover all the 8,400 gram panchayats in the state under the plan

The Bihar government is mulling over setting up one secondary school in each gram panchayat of the state. The proposal will cost an additional expenditure of about Rs 5,500 crore.

There are 8,400 gram panchayats in the state but there were only 3,000 secondary schools.  About Rs 5, 500 crore will be required to set up 5,400 schools.

The state government will have to arrange Rs3,000 crore to provide recurring annual expenditure of each proposed secondary school.

He said the state government is committed to set up more schools and equip them with good facilities to provide quality education to the students.
