What is CBSE-i?

CBSE-i stands for CBSE International. It's a new global curriculum offered by Central Board of Secondary Education (CBSE) headquartered in Delhi, India. The board aims to promote critical and creative thinking skills, effective communication skills, interpersonal and collaborative skills and information and media skills.

Initially in the academic year 2010-2011 this curriculum will be implemented in about 25 schools in middle-east and South-Asia as a pilot project for classes I and IX. The Board will review and extend it to other schools abroad in the second phase and to select Indian schools in the next phase.

CBSE International Curriculum

The CBSE-I curriculum is being subscribed by 30 schools in nine countries. It aims to promote critical and creative thinking skills, effective communication skills, interpersonal and collaborative skills and information and media skills.

The CBSE has decided to introduce international curriculum for a few selected schools abroad from the academic session 2010-2011 in classes I and IX.

It provides, inter-alia, flexibility in social science and languages. Other features include perspectives on building opinions, critical thinking module, life skill, research project and community service.

Mission and Vision of CBSE- i

The CBSE-i has formulated an internationally benchmarked global curriculum which is enquiry and skill based. The curriculum caters to individual learning styles in terms of pedagogy and assessment. It addresses global needs as well as relates to local issues and local culture. It carries forward the basic strength of the Indian system of education. It aims to promote critical and creative thinking skills, effective communication skills, interpersonal and collaborative skills as well as information and media skills. There is an inbuilt flexibility as it provides a foundation and an extension of the curriculum in subject areas to cater to the different pace of learners. The CBSE- i curriculum provides equitable and accessible quality of learning.
